Read Matthew 28
Think About It:
- There were many reactions to Jesus being raised from the dead.
- Woman who followed Him were both afraid, then filled with joy. They ran to obey the angels and tell His disciples the good news.
- The guards were afraid and helped the religious leaders cover it up.
- The chief priests and elders covered it up to prevent people from believing in Jesus.
- Some of the disciples doubted, but fell down and worshipped Jesus when they saw Him.
What is your response to Jesus? We may have experienced any of these reactions at different times in our lives, but we must finally choose to believe Him and worship Him.
- What are Jesus’ last words recorded in Matthew? Know that we are never alone, and He empowers us to spread the good news of salvation to those around us and to the world.
Family Time:
- Parents, this could be a fun one to let the kids (and parents!) act out! (verses 1-10) What do you think it would’ve been like and felt like to be these women? Were they scared? Confused? Excited? (see verse 8) Did they believe the angel?
- In that day, a soldier’s punishment for letting a prisoner escape was death. What do you think these soldiers felt like when they realized that Jesus was gone? What lie did they decide to tell the people so they wouldn’t know that Jesus was alive? (verse 13) Did you know that many of the Jews still believe this today?
- Read verse 17. They worshipped Him, but some doubted. Do you believe? Spend a few minutes praying for the Jews, and for those who do not believe the truth.
