Read 2 Samuel 8
Think About It:
FACT: “Brought tribute” meant that God did not want Israel to destroy every neighboring nation. Generally, God wanted Israel to be so blessed and strong that other nations were “taxed” by Israel, thus recognizing their strength and dominance.
- No great ruler succeeds by himself. Part of David’s success as a ruler was found in his ability to assemble, train, empower, and maintain such a team. How can this be implemented in the Kingdom of God today?
Family Time:
- What did David do to the chariot horses that belonged to the King of Zobah? (verses 3-4)
- What did David do with the silver, gold, and brass that were brought to him? (verses 7-11)
