Read 2 Samuel 9
Think About It:
Yesterday we looked at David’s “to do list”. Today he finishes that list. Years ago, he had made a covenant with Jonathan (see 1 Samuel 20:14-16) and he had not forgotten it. Now is was time to do something. Usually when a new king went looking for anyone related to the one he replaced, kindness was not on their mind. Imagine the relief Mephibosheth felt (verse 7) when David told him not to fear—kindness was the only thing he intended.
- Can you remember how you felt when you were confronted by the King of the Universe, when he extended grace and mercy to you, and you were invited to join Him at His table?
- How often do you thank Him for all the ways He has provided for you?
Family Time:
- To whom of the house of Saul did David show kindness? (verses 3-6)
- What benefits did David provide for him? (verses 7-13)
