Read Revelation 2
Think About It:
Verse 4 is a sobering reminder to each of us, “I have this against you: you have abandoned the passionate love you had for Me at the beginning. Think about how far you have fallen! Repent and do the works of love you did at first…” As we walk through life, sometimes the focus on “Loving the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength and all your mind” fades. We can all repent of this at different times in our life. We get preoccupied with things in life over time and face a spiritual drought. Spend time talking to God about your intimacy with Him and your plan to do the works of love you did when you first believed.
Family Time:
- Search this scripture. What is promised to “him that overcomes?”
- What does it mean to overcome? This is something to really search your heart about because he compliments the churches and they probably thought they were okay, until God spoke “but I have this against you”.
- We cannot lose our first love. All we do has to be out of truly loving the Lord and not just done out of a religious Spirit.
