Read I John 4
Think About It:
- The proof that someone is from God or not is whether they confess (or say) that Jesus is the Son of God and He has come in the flesh. Those that don’t confess Jesus are not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist. Many today claim that their way is the way of love but if it’s not God’s way, then it’s not real love because God is God demonstrated His love by sending His only Son into the world so we can have life. Since He loves us this much it makes sense for us to show our love for Him by loving one another. In fact, we’re commanded to do that.
- How can we continue to dwell in God? (verse 16)
- John tells us we are what He is now – pure and holy, seated in heaven, and glorified. (See Romans 8:30, Ephesians 2:6, Colossians 3:1-4, 1 Corinthians 1:30.) We are joined to Him—one.
Family Time:
- This is a difficult time to live in because there are many deceiving spirits that try to draw us in and influence us. But God has not left us alone. He has sent His Spirit to live in us and give us victory over every evil thing. We are of God. Know what He says and follow it. Do not listen to the advice that is popular in the world. It is not of God. Test anything by comparing it to God’s truth. Listen to God and ask Him any questions you might have!
- Verse 18: “There is no ________ in love…” Do you struggle with fear? I do sometimes, but I have found out that the more I learn how much Jesus loves me, the less I am afraid. So, if you struggle with fear, read some of these verses again and rest in how much you are loved.
- Did you love God first, or did He love you first? (verse 19)
