Read Acts 12
Think About It:
- James, John’s brother, was the first apostle killed. Who did it please? Hence, the reason Peter was arrested and put in prison. Why wasn’t he killed right away? This gave the church time to pray.
- Imagine being Peter and being able to sleep, chained to two guards. Worrying didn’t keep him awake. Did his past experiences allow him to trust God’s control? After the chains fell off, it seems Peter was in no rush to get out. He got dressed first. Do you think he thought it was a dream? When the angel’s job was done, he left Peter. Is that when Peter realized it was real?
- At the church, finally, Peter is allowed in. Even though guards could be coming after him, Peter tells them of God’s deliverance. When did you last take time to tell someone of your deliverance?
Family Time:
- How did the church (small group of believers) respond when Paul was imprisoned?
- Who did the Lord send to free Peter?
- Have you ever considered how God has chosen to work through us? Do you pray? Have you ever considered what your prayers lined up with God’s will might accomplish?
- What did Peter’s testimony do?
- What reason does the Bible give us for why King Herod died?
- How serious is it to give God glory and especially not to take His glory for our own?
