Read John 1
Think About It:
John’s writings help us believe how Christ is the “I AM”! The reason for our faith. Again, this is a familiar chapter. Read it carefully, searching for fresh truths to come out.
- Which would you rather be under—law or grace? Could it be that we are under both?
- John the Baptist was questioned three times about who he was. Each time he answered that he was not the Christ, Elijah or the prophet. What was his question to them?
- After hearing John the Baptist call Jesus the Lamb of God, a couple of disciples followed Him. Jesus had them spend some time with Him. The result was that one of them told his brother. Does that mean we should witness to our own family first? What was the result of him telling his brother?
Family Time:
- Fill in the blanks. (verse 1) You could also do these as a game…kind of like hangman. Have them guess letter by letter, until they know what each word says. Most kids will love to do this!
“In the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ was the Word, and the Word was _ _ _ _ God, and the Word _ _ _God.”
Who is the Word?
All things were made _ _ _ _ _ _ _Him, and without Him, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ was made that was made. In Him was _ _ _ _, and the _ _ _ _ was the _ _ _ _ _ of men.
- Talk about these verses.
Many people do not believe that Jesus is God. But here we see that the Word of God tells us very clearly that Jesus IS God. Isn’t it amazing that the God who made everything would lower Himself to become a human being, and give Himself in our place so that we could have life?
