Read Matthew 13
Think About It:
Matthew is the gospel of the King Jesus. All but 3 of the 15 parables in Matthew, start with “the kingdom of heaven”. Look for those verses.
- While the people stood, again Jesus sat to teach. This time to teach in parables. Why in parables? (verses 11 and 13)
- It appears that good and evil will remain together until the harvest. Who are the reapers in verse 30? And who gave them the orders? What do the tares and the wheat represent? Notice the tares are gathered first and have a different destination than the wheat.
- Jesus goes back to His own country and teaches. What were the people’s reactions? And why couldn’t Jesus do many mighty works there? Do we not receive the “many mighty works” for the same reason?
Family Time:
- Ask the Lord to give you ‘ears to hear’ what God’s Spirit is speaking (through His Word). Prepare your heart (repent) so that nothing will prevent a CROP OF GOODNESS from growing in your life.
- Ask the Lord not to let you become offended. In Jesus’ day, He was restrained from doing many mighty works because the people took offense.
