Read Ezekiel 28
Think About It:
God speaks through Ezekiel to the King of Tyre about his prideful heart. The father of those who walk in pride is Satan, and verses 11-19 describe Satan, who caused the King of Tyre to sin. The father of lies will tell those who listen to him that they are a god. In contrast, verse 3 mentions Daniel, who was already famous for his wisdom – but Daniel correctly gave God the glory for the source of his wisdom. The righteous are humble and recognize their need to depend on God for true wisdom, while the rebellious take all the credit for everything.
Spend some time recognizing God’s provision, protection and blessings, giving Him thanks for every blessing you can think of in your life today – even those you may have thought you acquired on your own! “Every good and perfect gift comes from God…” (James 1:17).
Family Time:
- God gave Ezekiel a message to the ruler of Tyre. However, the true ruler of Tyre that God was speaking to is the supernatural ruler, Satan, who controlled the physical ruler of that time. Re-read this section seeing who Satan was created to be in heaven and how he sinned.
- Read verse 17. What does that tell you about the seriousness of pride and corrupted wisdom? To whom does pride and corruption glorify?
- Read verses 25 and 26 – God’s promise to His people. Has any part of that promise come to pass?
