Read Jeremiah 49
Think About It:
This is one of the chapters declaring judgment on foreign nations.
All the nations mentioned in this chapter had pride in their own wealth, power, strength or abilities in some way. They thought victory over their enemies lied within themselves.
In our fight against evil only God’s power, strength and wisdom within us can win. Read Psalm 20:7-9. Where did David’s trust lie? Can you say the same as David?
Family Time:
- Reading the judgement upon those who have knowingly set themselves and exalted themselves against God is difficult, but God is a good and just God. It is no small thing to set yourself against God. To do so is to align with Satan.
- Contrast the judgement described in Jeremiah and the attitude of this people with God’s warning to the people of Nineveh and how they responded in Jonah 3:4-10. How is it different?
- Read Psalm 51:17; 2 Chronicles 7:14; 2 Peter 3:9; and Acts 3:19.
