Overview of the Book of Jeremiah

Read Jeremiah 1
Think About It:
Before Jeremiah was born, God had set him apart, to prophesy to Judah. God’s message was not what they wanted to hear. A prophet “sees” the results of not heeding God’s Word, maybe that’s the reason he was called the “weeping” prophet.
- Did Jeremiah have the choice not to be a prophet?
- What excuse did Jeremiah make for not wanting to speak for God? (verse 6)
How did God give him reassurance? (verses 7, 8, 17-19)
- God’s judgment was coming upon Judah. What were the reasons given in verse 16?
Family Time:
- Jeremiah 1:5 is a very well-known verse. Do you ever stop to realize that God knew you before you were formed? YOU are a part of HIS plan. He created you to be a part of HIS FAMILY.
- The Lord gives Jeremiah a difficult job and message to convey to His people. Re-read the assuring promises God gave Jeremiah to do this job. (Verses 5, 10, 18-19)
