Overview of the Book of II Timothy

Read II Timothy 1
Think About It:
- Writing a letter of encouragement can be hard, but what made it even more challenging for Paul to write to Timothy? What was Paul facing?
- Instead of a spirit of fear, God gave three other things. What are they?
- Paul used the phrase “that Day” in verse 12. Are we able to believe and be persuaded as Paul was? We can be!
Family Time:
“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (verses 6-7)Memorize this whole passage and think about it in light of the whole passage. When a fire dies down, we must stir it up to get it going. In stirring it up (perhaps speaking truth to others, witnessing to others, making choices that are not popular to this world) we must not be afraid. God has given us power and a sound mind. Even when we are called names for standing for Jesus, we must not be afraid! Can you name a time you stood up for what was right and was made fun of? God tells us to rejoice when we are persecuted for HIS name’s sake.
