Read Haggai 1
Think About It:
Haggai prophesied after the seventy years of captivity when many Jews had returned to Jerusalem. One of their first tasks was the rebuilding of the temple. However, the process stalled because many put their personal business before God’s business. Haggai stirred them up to finish the temple.
- During the reign, of which king did Haggai prophesy? (verse 1)
- To whom did Haggai prophesy? (verse 1)
- What did the people say? (verse 2)
- What question did the LORD ask through Haggai? (verses 3-4)
- What did the LORD ask them to consider? (verses 5-7)
- Why was there drought in the land? (verses 9-11)
- How did Zerubbabel and Joshua the high priest respond to the words of Haggai? (verse 12)
Family Time:
- The harder the people worked for themselves, the less they had because they ignored their spiritual lives. The same happens to us. If we put God first, He will provide for all our needs. If we put Him in any other place, all our efforts will be useless. Caring only for our physical needs while ignoring our relationship with God will lead to ruin. (verses 3-6)
- Do you ever forget about your relationship with God?
