Read Ezekiel 27
Think About It:
- The city/kingdom of Tyre was like a mighty, beautiful, well-run ship. What was the source of Tyre’s pride? How did this cause its downfall?
- “The most mighty and magnificent kingdoms and states, sooner or later, come down. Those who make creatures their confidence, and rest their hopes upon them, will fall with them: happy are those who have the God of Jacob for their Help, and whose hope is in the Lord their God, who lives forever” (Matthew Henry). What parallels do you see between this account and things happening in our world today?
Family Time:
- Contrast what Tyre said about itself in verse 3b to what God declares against this city (which had become a spiritual stronghold of Satan) in verse 36b.
- Read James 4:6.
