Read Psalm 94-95
Think About It:
“In this song we see how the very things which assault faith, and threaten to produce despair, may be made the opportunity for praise, in the place and act of worship.” (G. Campbell Morgan)
- In the world, in the time we are living and in the past, there are those who triumph in doing evil, in boasting of their wisdom, that they are in the right and Christians are the ones who are wrong in their standards, thinking, beliefs, etc. They speak arrogantly, they attempt to crush and stamp out those who worship God. In light of the quote above, when these things assault your faith, and threaten to cause you to despair, how do you go about making this an opportunity for praise and worship of God?
- Where does the psalmist find relief, help, refuge, compassion and loving kindness? If you never experience an assault on your faith, or any kind of unjust treatment, you don’t need relief, help, a place of refuge, or a strong tower. The greater your difficulties, persecution, and mistreatment, the greater your need for compassion and loving kindness, and the greater your need for God, and a strengthened faith that depends on the power of the Holy Spirit rather than your own power. If you could choose an easy life without hardship, trials, and injustice that didn’t require you to throw yourself on God’s mercy and grace over a life of difficulty that drove you closer to God and increased your faith, and the knowledge that you can’t handle life in your own power, which would you choose for yourself? For your loved ones?
- What 5 things can keep us from God’s blessing of “entering into His rest”? See verses 2, 6, 8, 9 and 10.
Family Time:
Psalm 94
- God created a perfect and beautiful world. Then sin and evil entered in, resulting in pain and suffering. At times, the suffering can seem overwhelming. Verses 8-11 encourages us that God does see, hear and know the thoughts of man. What confidence do verses 14 and 15 give to us and to all believers?
- Name the ways the Lord helped in verses 18-23.
Psalm 95
- Psalm 95 is an invitation to worship. Here are some ways we can worship: (fill in the blanks)
Let us ___________________ for joy to the Lord.
Let us ___________________ _____________________ to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before Him with _______________ and extol Him with __________and _____________.

Choose two and do them now, today, on the first day of a brand new year! 🙂
