Read Job 14
Think About It:
Early believers like Job did not have the revelation of future life as we now have in Christ (2 Timothy 1:10). Passages in the Old Testament hint at future resurrection (Psalm 16:9-11; 17:15; Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12:2), but Job did not have any of these books to read and ponder. “If a man dies, shall he live again?” Job asked this important question but did not answer it. When people are experiencing intense grief and pain, it is easy for them to feel that the future is hopeless and that God has forsaken them. But we have a hope in Jesus and the promise of a life with Him! Not only that, but we have the Holy Spirit to comfort us. “Now may the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
- Today, ask the Lord to bring someone to mind that is feeling hopeless. Go and comfort them, send them a note, make them a special gift, and tell them you love them – but most of all, Jesus loves them and sent you to them today!!
Family Time:
- What do you do when life seems unfair?
- No matter how unfair your present world seems, God offers the hope of being in His presence eternally. Have you accepted this offer?
