Read 2 Kings 23
Think About It:
- King Josiah turned to the Lordwith all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might. What do you need to destroy in your life to follow after the Lord with all your heart, soul, and might?
- King Josiah was considered a great king, like none other. What are some of the actions that he did that proved this?
- The great reformation in the days of Josiah is an example of simply going back to the word of God and seeking to base all thought and practice on what God has revealed in His word. It was an Old Testament example of the Reformation principle of sola scriptura.
Family Time:
King Josiah followed the ways of the Lord. He tore down idols, got rid of evil things and evil people. In verses 21 to 23 he restored an important celebration.
- What was this celebration called?
- How did King Josiah die?
- What country took control of Judah after Josiah died?
* The Passover celebrates Israel’s deliverance from slavery in Egypt. In the book of 2 Kings it is finally Egypt that puts the people of Judah back in their control and into slavery. Not following God’s word and allowing yourself to be driven by sin will take you back to a place of conflict, captivity and slavery to sin.
