Overview of the Book of Deuteronomy

Read Deuteronomy 1
Think About It:
- Why does Moses remind Israel of what has happened in the past?
- What does this teach them about who they are and who God is?
- What leadership qualities did Moses identify as needed for the men chosen to help him?
Family Time:
- How do you think you would feel standing at the entrance of the promise land, after being in the desert for 40 years?
- Moses reminds the Israelites of an ancient promise-one made by God to Abraham-that their people would one day multiply and become “as numerous as the stars in the sky” (Genesis 22:17). Why do you think it was important to remind the Israelites of that promise?
- God blesses His people when they follow His commands. At times, we do our own thing and there are consequences for not being obedient. How have you experienced this in your own life?
