Read Exodus 32
Think About It:
- Have you ever been tired of waiting for God to act and moved ahead of His timing and did it your way? Were you truly happy with the results or did you have regrets?
- Mentally process Aaron’s excuse (verse 21-24). Do you think it tells us something about his personality or character?
Family Time:
Read Exodus 32 together as a family. Then work on memorizing the memory verse and discuss the following questions as a family.
Memory Verses:
Older Children: Exodus 32:7-8
Younger Children: Exodus 32:7
While Moses was up on the mountain with God, the people begin to get impatient. They do not know when Moses will return or if he will return. As they lose faith, they go back to their old ways. They demand that Aaron make them a god that can go before them. They want a golden idol to worship like it is a real god.
- Look in the chapter you just read with your family and find what God’s response is to what the people are doing. Read it together and discuss it.
- Now find what Moses does when he comes back to the people. Read it together and discuss it.
The tablets contained the 10 Commandments or laws from God. When Moses broke them, it represented how the people had broken these laws by their actions and in their hearts.
*Think about a time when you did wrong. How did it make you feel? How did it make your family feel? How did it make God feel?
Take some time to talk to you family about doing wrong and how you can stop. Then pray together about it so God can help you heal your hearts and do right by Him.
