Read Exodus 10
Think About It:
- God wanted His people to share these stories to show that He is real and active in our lives. Are you telling your family and others how God is working in your life?
- Do you think the Egyptians were praying to their gods and waiting for them to help in these situations? Or do you think that at some point during these plagues it was becoming obvious that God was who the Hebrews were claiming He was?
Family Time:
- Pharaoh’s officials realize Egypt is ruined, and they want to save whatever little is left that they can, so they advise Pharaoh to give in to Moses to avoid the plague of locusts. Even with a ruined nation and advice from his officials, Pharaoh will not let the Israelites leave Egypt and the locusts come and devour everything in their path. Why do you think Pharaoh won’t listen to his officials, Moses, or God?
- Was it fair that all the Egyptians suffered due to Pharaoh’s decisions? As God’s creations, do we have any right to judge what God does as fair or not?
- In verse 24, Pharaoh tells Moses that his people can go if they leave their animals behind. This is similar to Chapter 10 where Pharaoh says the Israelite men can leave. In the first situation Moses says everyone must go, and in the second he says the animals must go too. In both cases, Pharaoh changes his mind after he heard Moses’s response. Why do you think Pharaoh changed his mind after each of Moses’s rebuttals?
