Read Revelation 21
Think About It:
- It’s worth remembering that the new heavenreferred to doesn’t mean the heaven where God is enthroned. The Bible uses the word heaven in three senses. The first heaven is the earth’s atmosphere, the “blue sky.” The second heaven is outer space, the “night sky.” The third heaven is the place where God lives in glory. When the Scriptures speak of a new heaven, they mean a new “blue sky” and a new “night sky,” not a new heaven where God dwells. The ancient Greek word translated new here (kaine) means “new in character, ‘fresh’.” It doesn’t mean “recent” or “new in time.” This isn’t just the next heaven and the next earth; this is the better heaven and better earth replacing the old (Enduring Word). Why will the new heaven and new earth have no more sea?
- “The tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them” (verse 3): Moses’ tabernacle represented the dwelling place of God on earth. That was just the representationof the dwelling place of God; this tabernacle of God is the reality of His presence. What does this statement or reality do for your faith?
Family Time:
- What things would be different on earth when the New Jerusalem comes down? (verses 1-8)
- Have someone help you look up all the different stones used in the foundation of the wall. (verses 18-21)
- Who are the only people that will be allowed to enter into this beautiful city? (verse 27)
