Read I Timothy 5
Think About It:
- What is a TRUE widow?
- Why should we honor our elders?
Family Time:
This passage talks about how we should treat members of the church. We should read it often. We should also learn now, even as children, that God has very high expectations of us. Look at the widow for example. The church is instructed to take care of her but ONLY if prior to the tragedy of losing her husband she had taken care of others, and practiced good works. God expects us all to be productive members of society.
We read later in 1 Timothy 5:8 – “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows.”
Young people, it’s never too early to think about how God wants you to live and provide for your family and others.
