Read Ephesians 5
Think About It:
- In the first verses, what does God want us to be/do?
- How are we to walk? Find the word “walk” in verses 2, 8, and 15. What does each walk say? Walk is an action word, not passive. In verses 19-21, being filled with the Spirit, gives us more action words.
- Notice the verses for wives and for husbands. Husbands have a huge responsibility. In the last verse, instructions to both husband and wife are given. The wife is told to respect her husband. See I Peter 3:1 for a reason why.
Family Time:
- Read verse 6. How can someone deceive you ‘with empty words’?
- In verses 11-12, how are we supposed to treat works of darkness?
- Do you enjoy talking about bad things you’ve done or listening to things others have done? Sometimes we have family and friends that don’t know Jesus or maybe they are new Christians and don’t always do what is right. But do you have close friends in your inner circle who participate in works of darkness? How do you think we should handle these things according to this chapter?
