Read II Corinthians 5
Think About It:
Wow! This chapter is filled with so many good things!
We have a new (everlasting) body waiting for us in the heavens. Even though we are fearfully and wonderfully made, our new body is much better! We are of good courage as we wait for God’s timing in this. There is anticipation and great desire as we walk by faith and not by sight. We make it our aim to please Him knowing that there is a day appointed when we will gain (or lose) our due rewards. Knowing the fear of the Lord, our intent is to persuade others. Sometimes we might be beside ourselves (amazed and out of our right mind), if so, it is for God. We get pretty excited sometimes. If we are in our right mind (sober), it is for you. The love of Christ controls us because we have concluded that when Jesus died for us we died with Him. And, when He arose we rose with Him. This is the power for us to get beyond the tyranny of ourselves (14-15). We live for Him and not for ourselves. Thank you Jesus! We are a new creation! Our message for the world is that God is not counting their trespass against them because of Jesus.
- What distinguished position do we hold? (verse 20)
- Why did Christ become sin for us? (verse 21) Verse 21 is the GREAT EXCHANGE!
Family Time:
Paul compares our earthy bodies and our future resurrected bodies. We will have new, perfect bodies for eternity! We know this is true because the Bible says, “God has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (verse 5) This should give us confidence to continue on as servants of Christ, regardless of how tough life can be.
