Read Acts 4
Think About It:
- What did Peter and John preach that upset the Sadducees so much that they had them put in jail? Why did it upset them?
- How did the members of the council save face before the people? (verses 16-22)
- When Peter and John returned to the other believers, what did they do? And the result—the place was shaken, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they preached with boldness. Remember the shaking came before the filling.
Family Time:
- In verse 7, what question did the rulers ask Peter and John? What miracle were they talking about? ( Answer is from yesterday’s reading in Acts 3 – the lame man)
- Peter answered in verse 10, “…let it be known to you all and to all the people…that by the name of ___________ whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here whole.” By whose name?
- Read verse 12. Fill in the blanks. “Nor is there ________ in any other, for there is ___ other name given among ____ by which we must be _____.” Many people believe that they can be saved and go to heaven through whatever god they want. They think that all the gods are really the same god and so whatever god you serve will get you to heaven. This is a lie, and a trick of the enemy—Satan. There is only one true God—the great I AM—Yahweh. And the only way of being saved and set free from sin and given eternal life and a home in heaven is through Jesus Christ. There is NO other name by which you can be saved. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” So, if anyone ever tries to tell you that Allah, or Buddha, or whoever…is the same God as the one you serve, remember that there is only ONE God and ONE way to be saved. Jesus Christ!
- Do you believe in the power of Jesus Christ? Do you believe that He has the power to save you from sin and death? Do you believe that He is able to give life and heal?
