Read John 4
Think About It:
This story of Jesus meeting the woman at the well is unique for several reasons. His disciples had left to buy meat in another town, so Jesus was all alone to have a conversation with this Samaritan woman. She was free to speak her mind to Him and although she may not have understood at first when Jesus spoke of “living water” (spiritual realm), His anointing caused hearers to consider His words and often their understanding was opened when they sincerely wanted to know what He meant. I love the one-on-one conversations Jesus had with others. When there are multitudes, the depth of conversation is absent. But face-to-face conversation can lead to deeper understanding of one another. Jesus not only brought salvation to the woman at the well, but the entire city heard Him speak and believed in Him. Ask God to give opportunities to meet with others one-on-one and ask Him to remind you of the important impact our words have when we are anointed and speaking the truth from God’s perspective into another person’s life. Ask Him each day for opportunities to share with someone you meet words that impact them for eternity. “He who wins souls is wise.”
Family Time:
- What is the living water Jesus was talking about in verses 10 and 13-14?
- In verse 34, what did Jesus say His food was? What do you think He meant by this? (Think about what it does for us…satisfies us, nourishes us…) Do you feel satisfied when you know you are doing the work of the Lord?
- What is the harvest Jesus is talking about in verses 35-38? Many people work together to bring in a harvest! Each one has their own job. And each person makes a difference. Don’t ever forget that even things that God asks you to do that seem small are still very important. And you could be used to help bring someone into the kingdom of God through your obedience! Isn’t that exciting!
