Read Luke 14
Think About It:
- Jesus, again, heals a man on the Sabbath. He wasn’t looking for trouble, He was looking for an opportunity to help people and to show people what God is like. He was not afraid to stir up controversy when moving in obedience to His Father.
- Who should you invite to a feast if you want to be blessed? (verses 12-14)
- What were the three excuses given by those who refused to go to the supper? (verses 18-20)
- What two illustrations did Jesus use to show one should “count the cost” before becoming a disciple? (verses 28 and 31)
Family Time:
- Who do you try to impress? Rather than aiming for prestige, look for a place where you can serve.
- Did you know that salt can lose its flavor? When it gets wet and then dries, nothing is left but tasteless residue. Try that as an experiment! Salt brings flavor to food and can also preserve the food. How does verse 34 apply to your life as a Christian? How salty are you?
