Read Mark 15
Think About It:
- What was Pilate’s response to Jesus’ silence when the Chief Priests accused Him? (verse 5) What was different about the way Jesus responded to accusations, than probably any other person in the same position?
- Name some of the ways that the soldiers mocked Jesus.
- Interesting Fact: The weight of the entire cross was typically 300 pounds. Usually, the victim carried only the crossbar, which weighed anywhere from 75 to 125 pounds. When the victim carried the crossbar, he was generally stripped naked and his hands were often tied to the wood.
- Notice the difference in text in verse 20… “they lead Him out to be crucified” and verse 22… “they brought him to the place of Golgotha.” What is this an indication of?
Family Time:
- In verse 34, why did Jesus say, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?”
- Who boldly asked Pilate for the body of Jesus? (verse 43 )
