Read Matthew 7
Think About It:
- Verse 1, “Judge not, that you be not judged” is often quoted to Christians by non-believers. Yet most of the people who quote this verse don’t understand what Jesus said. They seem to think (or hope) that Jesus commanded a universal acceptance of any lifestyle or teaching. The Christian is called to show unconditional love, but the Christian is not called to show unconditional approval. We really can love people who do things that should not be approved of. Consider verses 1-5, what is Jesus really saying regarding judgment?
- There are quite a few important lessons in the 28 verses of chapter 7. You may have heard many sermons preached from this chapter and read it many times yourself. But don’t gloss over it because it is familiar, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Which verses do you need to look at more closely today? Is there something deeper here that you need to consider?
Family Time:
- What do we call good gifts that come from God?
- How can we seek God?
- What is the very best gift that God has given us?
- What can you do to show kindness to others?
