Read Zechariah 12-13
Think About It:
Chapter 12
- Verses 1-9 reveals how God will rescue and restore Israel, both supernaturally (verse 4) and through the people (verse 8) making them strong and mighty.
- In verses 10-14, the people of Israel will turn to Jesus and repent. They will declare as a nation that Jesus is the Son of God.
Chapter 13
- Israel will receive salvation through Jesus and God will remove all idols and false prophets from the land. These were the two ways Israel was always led astray in the past.
- In verse 1, the word ‘fountain’ is used to refer to Jesus. What other scripture refers to Jesus as a fountain or living water? Just as a fountain continually flows, this is true of Jesus. The power of His blood is always flowing and available to us.
Family Time:
- Read 12:10. Who do you think ‘Me’ is? Who was pierced in the Bible?
- In Bible times prophets used to wear special clothes (verse 13:4 – a robe of coarse hair). Chapter 13 is talking about false prophets or people that tell lies and say their words are from God. Why do you think it says the false prophets will no longer wear their special clothes? Why would they tell people they are farmers? (verses 2-3)
