Read Micah 2
Think About It:
- How did God deal with those that oppressed others through their greed and covetousness?
- Though the people of God will pay the consequences of their sin, what is the promise of God that will be fulfilled?
- Interesting Fact: Micah began his ministry in the reign of Jotham, but nobody listened. Then he prophesied during the reign of Ahaz, but nobody listened. Finally, he prophesied during the reign of Hezekiah and the leaders and the people repented. Micah didn’t give up, even though results were slow in coming. Micah preached for anywhere between 16 and 25 years before there was any response.
Family Time:
- What is a remnant and who is included in a remnant?
- Those who are faithful to his original truth despite apostasy and opposition (Isaiah 1:9)
- Usually a small minority of people (Romans 9:27)
- Saved by grace and NOT by merit or works (Romans 11:5)
- God’s remnant has a deep appreciation of his forgiveness and mercy, and thus receive the full benefits of his salvation and truth (Micah 7:18-19)
- Satan is angry with the remnant and wages war against them (Revelation 12:17)
- A people who love truth and are totally honest (Zephaniah 3:13)
- Are not deceived and loyal to God: they keep the commandments and have the testimony of Jesus (Revelation 12:17) and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and this prophetic testimony is a guiding light for God’s last day people (Revelation 19:10 and 2 Peter 1:19:2)
- The remnant has a world-wide evangelistic influence before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD (Joel 2:31)
