Read Amos 7
Think About It:
- Verses 1-6 show how much our prayers matter. We can plead for America in this same way. God hears our prayers.
- Israel was not measuring up to God’s laws (plumb line – verses 8-9). Amaziah, a priest in Bethel, a center for idol worship, did not like what Amos prophesied. In retaliation, he falsely accused him. Give some similar examples of this happening today.
- Amos was not a prophet; he was a farmer. He was called by God to deliver this message and he obeyed. God calls each of us to serve Him. Ask Him what He wants you to do and be ready to follow wherever He leads and do whatever He asks.
Family Time:
- Who told Amos not to prophesy again at Bethel? (verses 10-13)
- What occupation did Amos have before the LORD called him to prophesy? (verses 14-15)
