Read Jeremiah 13
Think About It:
- The girdle became nasty in the muddy rocks. What was God’s point in having Jeremiah wear this?
- The iniquities Israel was involved in would eventually show that they were slaves to what?
Family Time:
Memory Verse: Jeremiah 17:7
- This sash could have been like a belt or it could have been like old fashioned undies that went to the knees. It was worn under the priests’ clothes against the skin. Jeremiah was given several directions on what to do with this sash: wear it, don’t wash it, bury it in a hole. (That seems a little silly!) Did Jeremiah ask God why he had to do these things before he did them? God expects us to trust Him fully and obey without hesitation. Do you ever ask ‘why’ before you do what you are told? Is that still being obedient? Is it ever okay to ask why before you obey?
- Did Jeremiah eventually find out why he had to do these things with the sash? (verses 8-11) What about you? Have you had a time when something made more sense AFTER you obeyed?
