Read Isaiah 66
Think About It:
- This last chapter includes the final lessons, possibly a review of what the book was about. It begins with contrasts between the faithful and the unfaithful. In verse 2 what are the qualities God looks for in those who follow Him?
- What does verse 18 say all nations and tongues will see? In verse 23, what will all flesh do?
Family Time:
- What kind of person does the Lord regard with favor? (66:2)
- With that in mind, in verses 3 and 4 God tells what worship He does not like. What kind of worship is not acceptable to the Lord?
- In verses 5 and 6 the Lord speaks again of true worshippers. They are devoted, mocked for their joy and tremble at His word. They are not “religious” and “ritualistic,” but full of heart.
- Could your friends accuse you of being “too devoted” or radical for Jesus?
- Is your worship lacking devotion?
- Are you going through the motions, never giving thought to getting yourself off the throne?
- Do you worry more about what your friends think than God?
