Read Isaiah 61-62
Think About It:
- Isaiah 61 is the scroll Jesus read in Luke 4 in the synagogue in Nazareth, after being tempted in the wilderness. It is easy to see how Jesus fulfilled this scripture. Now we are His disciples, His Church, to continue this great commission. Re-read those 11 verses and consider what you can do in your own life – with your influence – to fulfill the call serving God. Rejoice for such an awesome privilege and praise Him for His salvation!
- Isaiah 62 tells of how God delights in Zion, His people (that’s us!) and Isaiah foresaw what the Bride of Christ would become before Jesus returned. The people of God are no longer “abandoned” or “desolate”, but God delights in His people! We are His bride and He rejoices over us! He has positioned “watchmen” (and watchwomen) who will be alert, aware of what is going on, see what God is doing and pray God’s will forth here in the earth. Verse 12 says we will be called, “God’s holy people, the redeemed of the LORD.” We will be called “sought out, a city not deserted.” As you read this chapter, keep an ear open to heaven and see how God speaks to you about your part in this role. Isaiah’s prayers and intercession for us as God’s Church are still being answered today! Thank God for His plan as you see it unfold in these verses. Verse 5 says God takes joy in His union with you. Tell Him how you feel about the privilege of being united with Him today.
