Read Isaiah 42
Think About It:
The New King James Version rightly capitalizes Servant because the context demonstrates this is a clear reference to Jesus. Additionally, Matthew quotes Isaiah 42:1-5 and plainly says it is a prophecy fulfilled in Jesus (Matthew 12:16-21). So, in this, the LORD commands all peoples to put their focus on Jesus.
- What happens when we put our focus on Jesus?
- What is the mission of the Servant, Jesus?
- As a result of all the LORD has done and will do for His people, He is due majestic praise to equal the majesty of His works. Do you really appreciate the good that God does for you and through you? If you do, does your praise for the LORD reflect how you really feel?
Family Time:
- Who is the servant spoken about in verses 1-9?
- How could Israel and Judah be God’s servants and yet be so blind. Do we not fail in the same way? Sometimes partial blindness (seeing but not understanding or knowing what is right but not doing it) can be worse than not seeing at all.
