Read Isaiah 31-32
Think About It:
Judah felt they had a reason to trust in chariots (because they are many). Judah felt they had a reason to trust in horsemen (because they are very strong). But they couldn’t seem to find a reason to trust in the LORD!
- What is the result of Judah’s misplaced trust in Egypt? Complacent is the same word used later in the same chapter, where God promises peaceful habitation. According to Isaiah, “there is nothing wrong with feeling secure and undisturbed as long as one’s trust is solidly based on the LORD.”
- What is the cause of the complacency in the lives of the people of Judah? In your own life?
Family Time:
- Woe means great sorrow (sadness) or distress. Isaiah 31:1-3, warns that great sadness is in store for those who put their trust in humans rather than the LORD. When Jesus (Yahweh) shows his power, everything that opposes him is defeated.
- In Isaiah 31:4, who will the “LORD of Hosts” (Commander of Angel Armies) fight for? What is the LORD compared to? Does anything scare our God?
- Whose sword will defeat the enemy? (verse 8)
- Isaiah 32:1-4, promises the outcome of a Godly Kingdom.
- Verses 5-8 are a warning and declaration that in a Godly Kingdom evil and foolishness will be revealed for what they are. (They can’t hide).
- Verses 9-14 warn of carelessness. What happens when the wine fails (dries up)?
- Verses 15-20 promise the pouring out of the Spirit and the resulting blessing (return of the wine).
- Let us pray, Jesus, may we be alert and filled with your Holy Spirit living out the Kingdom in this day!
- Re-read and write out Isaiah 32:17.
