Read Ecclesiastes 2
Think About It:
- The key word in this chapter is vanity. What is vanity? Verse 1 might be paraphrased, “I said, ‘Self, let’s prove some things.’” All vanity!
- Chasing after the wind—the frustration one feels after working for things to find at one’s demise, they become someone else’s. What should you be working to leave behind?
- Should we take Solomon’s words, “Eat, drink and be merry”, literally? Or is he saying, “Enjoy life and what you do,” because God provides it? Do you consider each day a gift from God? Well, it is. Why not thank Him for it? Use it to serve Him—the true source of enjoyment.
- What three things does God give to the good man in the end?
Family Time:
- Solomon tried to find lasting joy and happiness in life. But NOTHING satisfied! He was left sad and depressed.
- As we look back at all of the things Solomon pursued, what was the one thing that he did not pursue?
- Do you long to be with Jesus? Is He the treasure of your heart?
- How can praying for God’s wisdom help you?
