Read Proverbs 31
Think About It:
- Why does this mother give a warning against sexual promiscuity, sexual indulgence and drunkenness as a leader? Can you think of examples given in scripture that demonstrate the consequences of these behaviors in leaders?
- What are the traits of a virtuous (Godly) woman?
In a nut shell: She loves God; she loves as God loves; she is trustworthy, she is willing to work (she is not lazy); she has strength, wisdom and compassion; she does everything with excellence as unto the Lord; she teaches by example; she has good character in all her dealings; she is a good manager and most importantly… kindness flows from her lips. (Ladies…all of these character traits (and more) are only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. AND…it does NOT mean that you become a door mat for people.)
- What is her reward?
Family Time:
- King Lemuel’s mother is giving advice to her son, a King. In this advice is a description of a Godly woman. Even at a young age, we should be studying these passages and praying for Godly spouses. Not only should we be praying but we should be setting in our heart and mind the qualities we will possess as a wife and the qualities we want in our husband. We are commanded to be equally yoked, period!
- Girls, look at the virtuous wife: It isn’t too early to strive for these goals.
- Boys, what does scripture say about characteristics Godly men should have?
