Read Proverbs 20
Think About It:
Proverbs 20 is more evidence of the wisdom God granted Solomon. Each verse can be looked at as we ask God to show us where we need to grow. Studying these proverbs instills wisdom in us throughout our life. There is a book for each day of the month, so we can read through the book of Proverbs twelve times each year if we fit one chapter in for the corresponding day of the month. Ask God how to apply the Truth of His Word into your life as you read each verse and thank Him for providing these insightful proverbs for us to use. As we re-read the Proverbs throughout our life, we gain more understanding from them and they shape our decisions, which leads to verse 29: the dignity of the old is their wisdom. There is nothing as helpful in life as wisdom from heaven.
Family Time:
- Read verse 3. Striving means to struggle or fight. Anyone can cause a fight. It takes a special person to be able to keep peace. You have to decide in your heart that you do not want to struggle with someone. You have to try to find ways to work out problems. Do you spend more time striving – fighting – or more time trying to get along with others?
- Read verse 11. It is important to notice that in the middle of all these verses about kings and parents and old people (gray hair is mentioned!) that God chooses to include a comment about kids. What kind of kid are you? What actions are you known by?
Parents: What might others be saying about your kids? How can you help your kids to be known as pure and right?
