Read Psalm 119:1-24
Think About It:
Psalm 119:1-24 – God’s people memorized Psalm 119, as each section corresponds to a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The first 8 verses represent Aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which means leader, first, strong, unique and speaks of the sovereignty of God. The second section (9-16) refers to the meaning of the second letter, Beth pointing to a house, blessing and the focal point of holiness on earth. The third section stands for Gimel, which means benefactor, to lift up, benefit, kindness and nourish until completely ripe. As you read these verses, you can see the themes in each section and see how that helped Hebrew children memorize the entire chapter. If we use the bible as a road map or God-given guide pointing to eternal meaning in heaven, we can see parallels in this life that point to God’s plans all along the way. The Hebrew language is rich in pictures that point to deeper meaning in God’s Word. Ask the LORD to help you see the bible – His Word, Jesus Himself! – in the readings each day and to give you a closer glimpse of His love and His eternal plan for you.
