Read Psalm 114-115
Think About It:
Psalm 114
- Psalms 111-118 are called the Hallelujah Psalms. They were used in the Passover services. This psalm, recounting the exodus of God’s chosen people, and Psalm 115, may have been sung by Jesus and the apostles. (Matthew 26:30) Can you see the water, mountains, hills, earth, rock and flint doing what this psalm says?
Psalm 115
- From God’s dwelling place, in heaven, He does whatever He pleases. Does that sound selfish? It would, if it was anyone but God. Remember, everything God does is right.
- Even with human attributes, the idols are as helpless as their makers, who trust in them. Where are the nations, the priests and the people told to put their trust? What will He be to them? Then, what does He promise them?
Family Time:
- What past event is Psalm 114 describing?
- Why is it important for God’s people to remember and sing about the things God has done?
- According to Psalm 115, whose name should be given glory?
- In Psalm 115:4-7, the idols (false gods) are described. What does verse 8 say about the people who make and trust in idols?
