Read Psalm 110-111
Think About It:
Psalm 110
- This remarkable Psalm is one of the Old Testament portions most quoted in the New Testament.
- This Psalm is a prophetic writing: God established the Lordship of the Messiah in verses 1-2; the Lord will be recognized and honored by His people in verse 3; The Lord is established as an eternal priest in verse 4; Messiah will contend with Kings and nations in verse 5; and Messiah will judge all nations in verses 6-7.
- What does “Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power” mean?
- “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” Why is this important? (See Hebrews 7:17 and 21)
Psalm 111
- Do you often think of the great works of God?
- Have you found joy in studying the scriptures? (Studied by all who have pleasure in them – The more one gazes, the more one sees.)
- What should be learned by God’s great works?
Family Time:
- Parts of Psalm 110 are quoted multiple times in the New Testament affirming that it is about Jesus (the Messiah). Can you find portions of this Psalm in a New Testament passage?
- What was special about Melchizedek that verse 4 indicates the Messiah was of the order of Melchizedek?
- What verses predict events still yet to come?
- Psalm 111:4 declares that God has made His wonderful works to be remembered. Take a few moments to think about and remember His works.
- Memorize Psalm 111:10.
