Read Psalm 73
Think About It:
This Psalm expresses an inner conflict the writer has with what appears to be an injustice: wicked unbelievers prospering in this life and the faithful believers burdened. Failure to witness firsthand the quick response of heaven to make right those who are careless, disregarding their Maker, leads to disappointment. Refuse to compromise or disobey God regardless of what you see in the lives of those around you. Remind yourself of the character of God. He is just. He is faithful. He is love. He is merciful. Inconsistencies are typically due to our lack of knowledge or insight. We are never smarter than God, but we often mis-judge situations and people. We need to be quick to repent when we are tempted to judge God based on what we see in people. This life is temporary and the values we receive for remaining faithful to God are eternal.
- Spend a few minutes now talking to Him about areas that have conflicted or tempted you, asking Him to forgive you and open the eyes of your heart giving understanding and wisdom. Tell Him you trust Him in ALL things. Declare His characteristics and thank Him for these qualities for your own benefit: God is Love, He is Just and Merciful, Long suffering, my Prince of Peace, Savior, Healer, Provider, Protector, All-knowing, Counselor, my strength, and my refuge. The closer we get to God, the more realistic we become about life.
Family Time:
