Read Psalm 41
Think About It:
- On earth, God has a reward system called blessings. What is “he” being blessed for in verses 1? God’s “benefit package” is out of this world!
- There are some parallels to Christ in verses 5-8. Can you find them? To whom does verse 9 parallel? (See John 13:18)
- In verse 4, David asked the Lord to be merciful and heal his soul, as he had sinned against Him. Have you?
Family Time:
- These chapters have shown us the anguish and pain David suffered while men were trying to kill him. His body became weak, his strength was gone, but yet he still prays and praises God! He asks for mercy, then ends this chapter with these words: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and amen.” David trusted God completely. Do you?
- We can learn many things by reading about David and his relationship with God. He knew to patiently trust. Think about any struggle you may have had in the past. After reading about the reactions of David to his many struggles, remember what David did. He constantly reaches out to God with requests for mercy and praises to God. He quietly and patiently waits on God. Make this your habit when life becomes difficult… take it to God, confess if you have sinned and patiently wait, trusting in God always!
