Read Psalm 39-40
Think About It:
Psalm 39
- Who do you look to for help when life is hard? (verse 7)
- Our time on earth is short and heaven is forever. Enjoy your life here on earth, “but store up for yourself treasures in heaven.” (Matthew 6:20) Where do you store your treasures?
Psalm 40
- Do you go to God when you are in a pit or do you try to pull yourself out? If we wait on God’s perfect timing He will:
- Lift us out of the pit—no matter how we got there
- Set our feet on a rock—Jesus is our Rock, our firm place to stand
- Give us a new song to sing
- We need to tell what God has done for us, so others will trust Him too.
Family Time:
- David takes his complaints and needs directly to God… not to others!
He also realizes that this life is “but a breath”, his wealth unimportant. What does David look for in Chapter 39:7? Who is the source of that Hope?
- David waited patiently for God; God heard David’s cry (40:1). What 4 things did God do for David? (verses 2-3)
- David learned the truth about what God desires from us. Read verses 6, 7 and 8 and tell what God desires.
