Read Psalm 3-4
Think About It:
- Have you ever felt like your circumstances were overwhelming?
- In Psalm 3 David was running from Absalom who was seeking to kill him and take over the throne. In Psalm 4 David speaks of being in distress and people being against him. But like David, we can know that God is our deliverer (3:8) and God hears us when we call (4:3). When the day is done, we can say, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (4:8)
Family Time:
- In Psalm 3, what does the term Selah mean? Why do you think it is used in God’s Word?
- When David wrote Psalm 3, David was surrounded by enemies—including his son. Who was David’s trust in? Do you trust the Lord to help you like David did?
- In Psalm 4, who does David say put gladness in his heart? What makes you glad?
- Consider reading this Psalm in another translation…such as The Message or another translation.
