Read Psalm 3-4

Think About It:

1. Have you ever felt like your circumstances were overwhelming?
2. In Psalm 3 David was running from Absalom who was seeking to kill him and take over the throne. In Psalm 4 David speaks of being in distress and people being against him. But like David, we can know that God is our deliverer (3:8) and God hears us when we call (4:3). When the day is done, we can say, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (4:8)

Family Time:

1. In Psalm 3, what does the term Selah mean? Why do you think it is used in God’s Word?
2. When David wrote Psalm 3, David was surrounded by enemies—including his son. Who was David’s trust in? Do you trust the Lord to help you like David did?
3. In Psalm 4, who does David say put gladness in his heart? What makes you glad?
4. Consider reading this Psalm in another translation…such as The Message or another translation.
