Read Job 36
Think About It:
Elihu looks to the wisdom of God’s goodness and His justice and concludes that Job’s suffering may be a warning to avoid future sin and to build his character.
- There are no answers and no relief in sight. Ever been there? How did you handle it? Did you go to God first or to the experts or friends?
Family Time:
- Who did Elihu say that the righteousness of humans is ascribed [directed] to? (Job 36:3) What does this mean?
- In Job 36:16-25, Elihu says that God intended to teach Job something through his affliction [trials, pain]. What do you think God was trying to teach Job?
- The world likes to tell us that there is a “mother nature,” and that she controls the weather. According to Job 36:32, who actually commands [controls] the thunderstorm as he throws lightning from His hands like arrows?
