Read Esther 7
Think About It:
- After hearing Queen Esther’s request and the thing that Haman had done, the king left the banquet to think things through. He had just promoted Haman and now he was being made a fool of by him. How do we feel when we’ve trusted someone and they abuse that trust?
- Haman pleaded with Esther to save his life. He was in such a state that he fell on the couch where Esther was reclined. Thus, Haman was found when the king returned; sealing his death sentence. The very thing that Haman meant for harm to someone else, was used on him. Had pride caused Haman to fall? What has pride caused you to do? How do you guard against it?
Family Time:
- How did Esther tell the king about the plan to kill her people? (verses 1-6)
- How did the king react? (verses 7-8)
- What happened to Haman as a result of his pride? (verses 9-10)
*Remember, this whole plan to kill the Jews started because Haman was angry at Mordecai for not bowing to him. His pride drove him to try to murder Mordecai and all the Jews! Pride is serious! God will always bring the proud person down, and lift up the humble person!
