Read 2 Chronicles 19
Think About It:
- Jehoshaphat advises judges to consider what they do and know their work is for the LORD, who gives wisdom in making decisions. He does not show favoritism but looks at our hearts to know true justice in every circumstance. In verse 11, Jehoshaphat says, “Deal courageously and may the LORD be with the upright!” Consider the decisions you make in regard to working with other people. Since we have the Bible as our reference and the Holy Spirit as our Counselor, we should be just as diligent in acting justly with others. Reflect on situations that God may show you and ask for His wisdom in doing the right thing.
Family Time:
- In verse 2, Jehu tells Jehoshaphat what he did to displease God. What did Jehoshaphat do in chapter 18 to bring the wrath of God upon himself?
- In verse 3, Jehu tells what “good things” God has found in Jehoshaphat. What were these good things?
- In verses 4-11, Jehoshaphat continues to do things to bring his people closer to God and to live by God’s laws. What can you do to change any wrong actions or thinking in your life to get closer to God?
